Hirsch is probably best known for his portrayal of Alex Rieger in the classic television series "Taxi," a role which garnered him two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series and nominations during every season of the show's run. Hirsch also starred as John Lacey in the series "Dear John," for which he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy, before starring opposite Bob Newhart in the comedy series "George and Leo" on CBS.
